Windtrail Park Apartments – Fort Collins, Colorado

These apartments were designed in two phases for two different developers.  After the conventional units adjacent to Shields Street were constructed, 50 subsidized-housing units followed for single parents and seniors. The Jim Sell Design team’s primary considerations were compatibility between the market and subsidized units, safety for parents and children, and a secure environment for seniors that didn't isolate them from the rest of the neighborhood (right rear). We created the single-parent complex around a pedestrian spine, providing opportunities for children’s safe play areas (rear center). We separated the 10 senior units from the main project, adjacent to an existing irrigation canal and open space.
