Grand Canyon National Park – Trail of Time

The Trail of Time is a 1.6 mile interpretive trail and geologic timeline located along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This timeline reaches 2 billion years into the past and shows the formation of all the rocks found in the Grand Canyon, helping impress the magnitude of deep time to the visitor. The trail improvements consist of 12 wayside panels, 4 portal plazas, 30 rock exhibit plinths and 7 viewing tubes. Each improvement is custom designed to specifically reflect the Grand Canyon and the Trail of Time. The project is funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation through the University of New Mexico. Jim Sell Design is heading a multidisciplinary team charged with all of the design and graphics for this project.
