Harmony Ridge II Residential Development,
Storm Drainage Concept – Fort Collins, Colorado
Located on the edge of the Cathy Fromme Prairie – a large natural area in southwest Fort Collins – this medium-density residential development represents the final phase of a challenging project. With a steep drop-off at the site’s south edge, and the need to avoid erosion below the perimeter lots’ back property line, the Jim Sell Design team developed a series of storm-water conveyance swales. These function as water-quality features and increase percolation. Two of the swales are within the street right-of-way and provide primary moisture for the indigenous deep-rooted plants that integrate perfectly with the adjacent natural area.
