Streetscapes

The Jim Sell Design team has designed hundreds of miles of streets, roads, and driveways during our more than 30-year history. We have learned that we must consider the travel speed of the adjacent street when creating a plan. A landscape plan than looks great along a walkway looks like chaos at 60 mph.

Budget and maintenance are always concerns. As a result, we routinely recommend indigenous materials, unless there are special circumstances.

We have been involved in municipal street-widening projects that resulted in impacts for nearly every resident – on both sides of three miles of urban streets.  We interviewed each resident and assisted in the successful mitigation of nearly everyone’s concerns. Our office provided these services for the City of Fort Collins for 10 years.
